Teenage Movie Morals

Really attractive boy meets really attractive girl. And because the latter is gorgeous, she's also a rich and spoiled and superficial brat. Unlike Girl Number Two, who's smart and sweet, and also beautiful the second she takes her ponytail down and her clunky glasses off. But Really Attractive Boy acknowledges and admires her incredible inner beauty, and wishes he could be with her forever. But his simple-minded friends would not approve-- at least until the ponytail comes down. But at some point, he doesn't need their approval anymore, all he needs is Girl Number Two. And she just needs to be with him, which is why she waits and waits and waits for him to end things with his progressively bratty girlfriend, who in turn ends up falling into a pool or with a cupcake in her face and losing her popularity and reputation. And Girl Number Two and Really Attractive Boy are able to love each other forever.
Which is definitely the way real high school works. Everyone is exceedingly beautiful (and tall), and fits under an absolute stereotype, making all obstacles clear-cut and easy. And we should all wear our hearts on our sleeves, and let ourselves be completely vulnerable, and speak as if music were playing in the background.
