Rainforests, who needs them?

So we've been hearing all this garbage about the environment being in trouble and forests disappearing and animals being endangered and everything else on this planet going wrong for years now, right? Recently I've heard so much about rainforests, how they are "so ecologically important" and "house over half the species in the world." They claim we need them on earth, and sure, if humans really feel that way, I think I have a good solution.

First of all, stop worrying. Sure, maybe they are right, over half of the known species on the planet are living in rainforests. But, its also been said 90% of these species are insects. So what? Who likes bugs, anyway? They are annoying pests and I'm fairly certain we are better off without them. They are so small, it isn't like they contribute to this forest anyway. We'll forget about all these 9000 bird species when really, all we need is about 20, right? Lets cut down on the excess and keep the bare minimum.

Second, since we basically just need the rainforests for biological study and getting plant extracts for medicines (aka, we just need them for ourselves), I find the most humane and environmentally minded solution would be to take the space where these rainforests stand now, and put up some nice large factories dedicated to this research. Instead of having to search through the forests, we would cage up the animals, use fake sunlight to grow the plants, and be able to have this right at our fingertips! Imagine the ease! We could get this medicine quickly and cheaply from contained plants and have the animals safely boarded up.

So basically, if you decide that we actually even need rainforests, I believe my plan of action is best - we could create a better and brighter world by simply industrializing the rainforest industy.
