Andrew Bakert

I can’t exactly remember the first time Andrew and I met. The first thing I can remember about him is a conversation we had after school one day. One thing that really stood out to me about Andrew is his openness. He always expresses himself regardless of what others may think (which in high school, requires a fair amount of confidence), yet he remains completely respectful while doing so. After that, we got to know each other a little bit in English last year.
But I’ve been able to learn much more about Andrew this year in English. For starters, he has a lot on his plate. The guy takes five AP classes and plays two sports! I really don’t know how he does it. While this is all very commendable, I think my favorite thing about Andrew is his natural curiosity in the world around him. He seems to know a little something about everything- be it politics, culture, food, weather, or geography (I once watched him label an entire world map with capitals and major geographical features. Being a person who barely knows their right from their left, I was stunned.).
To sum it all up, Andrew is a really interesting guy. He’s hard to define in one way or another and he’s constantly surprising me. Like how he’ll break into song if he’s inspired by the quote wall. Or how he has the vocabulary of a Harvard graduate and can write for hours and hours. It’s so hard to define him in just a blog.
Anyways, to the color! I’d have to say Andrew is a forest green, both literally and figuratively. Literally, Andrew is a very outdoorsy person and cares a lot about the environment, which both relate to forest green. But figuratively, forest green is a very layered color, it holds much more than you may see in the first glance. And in this way it is like Andrew!

Jessica Brewer

With a last name close to Jessica's alphabetically, I am not surprised that we have sat together before in high school. Last year she was with Jeremy behind John and me in Mrs. Haggerty's class and our two rows were incessantly conversing when assigned group projects. However, I didn't really know her all that well until we were assigned to sit together in English class this year. Of course, I could tell that she was studious from previous years in which she would often be the first to participate in class discussion and had an answer to every question posed. But I failed to understand her on a personal, not solely academic level.

Upon first meeting her, Jessica seems to be slightly shy. She is often busy and never talks to interrupt the teacher unless her intention is to ask or answer a pertinent question. And yet, outside of school and before or after class she is often engaged in conversation. No matter the situation, Jessica is polite as well as genuinely amiable, making it nearly impossible for others not to enjoy her company.

Given her uncanny ability to balance countless extracurriculars and challenging coursework flawlessly, Jessica remains unbelievably humble. Whenever she is praised for her accomplishments, she simply rejects the praise and insists that her actions are not extraordinary. In fact, this ability alone is extraordinary and exemplifies her modesty.

In all, Jessica is someone who can always be trusted, always add to a conversation, and always give her best effort in whatever she pursues. I would label her as purple for her deep personality and for her modest pragmatism.

I like hot things.

I couldn't decide between Stretch or State Champ, so I just flipped a coin and to determine my lucky writing topic.
Stretch (Ironically, the Champ lost) is way too complex of a guy to just describe with one color. That is why I chose the rainbow for Stretch's hue. Stretch is a huge gay pride activist, so the rainbow fits right in with him. And the whole "too complex for one color" thing applies too. There's so much to tell about a guy like Stretch Ryan that I'll just hit the highlights for you. We've already discussed his love for the gays, which goes hand in hand with his extremely liberal political ideals. He's an extreme progressive that can't shut up about health care reform, getting out of the war, and welfare. He often calls things "conservative" as the ultimate insult. But he's a man not just defined by his politics. He and I have a great history. Stretch and I first met when we were aged 2 and 3, respectively. (I'm a year older than him mentally). We used to race bikes down Fontaine as little kids and play hide-and-seek with the neighorhood gang. One of my fondest memories is watching him cry and cry over getting tagged in a particularly intense came of tag because he had absolutely no shot of ever getting anyone else "it". He may be stretchy but he is slower than Christmas. Quite literally.
Recently, I've been hanging out with his youngest brother, Walker Christopher Molten much more than Stretch because Walker isn't as big of a baby, which just adds another element to Stretch's character. Tiger (Stretch's stage name) has two brothers, and is very close with them. With three boys in one family sharing three names...it just doesn't get more close knit than that, and that is one of the many things I envy stretch for.
The bottom line is, Stretch really isn't that cool. Nobody likes him.

chelsea = amazingness

So, I started this assignment by dumping a box of crayons on the ground. I immediately took out all the ugly colors(because Chelsea is waaaay to beautiful for any of those.) Then I split all the rest up into warm and cool, and decided to go with a warm color since Chelsea is sweet, funny, easy to talk to, and all around WARM.
I thought about going with red, but red is too intense. Chelsea is much more relaxed. I thought about going with purple, but purple is too boring and overdone.
So I decided to go with magenta. It’s fun, graceful, and kind, (cuz colors can totally be kind but watevs) all of which are qualities I associate with Chelsea. Sitting next to her in English actually gives me a reason to look forward to mornings, which is pretty impressive. And she definitely wakes me up; It’s kind of impossible to be tired or bored around her. Oh, and her pretty shoes are great distractions for when I don’t want to watch dying chickens in those fun English movies we watched. (Not sarcasm by the way. I really did enjoy those. Except for the dead chickens.) The most important reason that magenta reminds me of Chelsea, though, is that every time I see it it makes me smile, just like she does. So yah. Chelsea = magenta. And awesome. :)

Elizabeth Crutcher is brown

It's hard for me to pick just one color for Liz. So I pick brown. Liz is my best friend. It's pretty obvious, right? Without her, high school just wouldn't be the same. I came to Henry Clay knowing about 5 people. And when I first met Liz, we clicked instantly. To everyone else, I bet we are sooooo obnoxious. But I don't care. When I'm around Liz, I can laugh about... cats. So colors... I picked brown because it's the color created when every color is mixed together. Liz is blue because she's sympathetic to me, she's yellow because she's fun, she's pink because I freaking LOVE her, she's purple because she's deep, she's black because she's ironic? Give me any color and I promise I can show how relate it to her. Even though I'm and ISTJ and she's an INFP, I see her as my other half. The clock work that drives us might be different, but on the outside we're just too similar. I literally couldn't ask for a better person to call my friend. Hell, we even dress the exact same without even trying. That doesn't happen to normal people. We have practically the exact same taste in music, movies, television shows, and of course clothing. Elizabeth Crutcher has made my junior year incredible. She's always there for me no matter what the situation may be. We can drive around for 3 hours talking about how annoying our boyfriends are for ditching us. When I picture the 'perfect' high school years, how our lives are right now it exactly what I imagine. Our boyfriends are best friends and we are best friends. Things couldn't have worked out more perfectly. ANYWAY. Liz is brown. But not because she's boring, she's the complete opposite. She's brown in an ironic way. Brown is considered to be a safe color and signifies intelligence, reassurance, and trust. And that my friends, is how I see Liz. I trust her with my life. Everything about it, there is no secret I would keep from her. She's my reassurance for whenever I'm feeling low. I always know I can turn to her and she'll guide me through whatever mess I twisted my way into.

So Lizzy, to steal some lines from Passion Pit....

Greg Myers

Greg Myers. He is a character. In a literal sense. He is the best 17 year old, high school actor that I know. Greg has already told you our personal history so I will not repeat him. There are many facets of Greg's personality that I have encountered this year. His pretentious side (I'm Greg Myers-with strange hand movement), his emotionally confused side (yes, I help Greg make some extremely important decisions-mostly regarding whether or not he should miss any more school), his geeky side (no need to explain, everyone knows), and his angry/shy side (when Greg is mad about something he does not tell you, he is very quiet about it. FYI he does not like it when everyone gets mad at him for doing so well on practice multiple choice tests.)

Anyway, Greg has become one of my pretty good friends here in this close knit family we call the Academy. Therefore, I deem that Greg is the color Forest Green. Not too light, not too dark.

Paul

I don't think I could assign Paul a single color, well at least not one within my knowledge. He is really quite funny and original. I've known him since the seventh grade, and as a friend since the end of eighth grade. I guess if i had to give him a color it be some kind of onixish ocean blue. He's a deep dude to those who don't know. Sometimes he lays pretty low, but rarely does he just go with the flow. He listens to Jack Johnson and Muse a lot, and has some qualities generally sought. He aspires to a higher form of comedy, you could say he's an anomaly. Not in a bad way though, that's just the way he roll. He thinks hard for his jokes, which aren't just simple pokes. Sorry about the rhymes, I was listening to hip hop for the first part of this blog. I didn't give him onixish blue because he's dark or anything, rather because he's deep like the ocean. Onixish represents the originality that I previously noted, I mean I think onix is a pretty unusual color.

Libby!

Obvious right? And, yes i know, a little cheesy. I've known Libby since Freshman year, but i didn't relly get to know her until the end-ish of last year, but the most of what I know about her came from this year. She makes my life so much better, and I'm sad every time I have to leave her. What color is she? She is yellowbecause i can look at her and just drift away. She is lime green because she is silly, and that's just a color i associate with it. She is red because she is always stressed, and this isn't a bad thing at all, it pushes her to do her best. And i like trying to make her happy. She is baby blue, because some of the things she does remind me of a small child, like the way she plays with gummi bears, or the way she makes funny noises when she's excited, especially when she talks to me without words! there is also the fact that she is always sleepy, like a baby, and she can sleep literally anywhere. She's white, the most simple color, because the way she eats. She goes to McDonalds and orders a hamburger plain, just bun, patty, bun. She's purple because she is one of the deepest people i know, despite her childishness. She is gray because she tries to hide things from me because she doesn"t upset me. She is everything to me, and im sure people will think this is ridiculous, but I don't care! She is one of the best things to happen to me, and i don't ever want anything to happen to that.

Christopher Ryan Molten

Hello friends. Today i would like to talk about my dear friend, Christophter.

His name is ACTUALLY "Stretch." How he got this nickname you ask? I mean seriously, how could he not get this nickname?! He's soooo stretchy! If you have ever witnessed him stretch his neck out of his shirt like a turtle, you wouls immediately understand. Enough talk about his first name. Let's move on to his middle name. Ryan. Sounds typical, but when you dig deep into his family tree you may find that his younger brother is also named Ryan. Interesting huh? You probably don't believe me. What mother in their right mind would name their third child after their second child? I'll tell you who. Julie would. Yes, Julie Molten. Strange. But anyway, Molten is the family name obviously. It originated back in the ancient Hawaian times, when lava flowed through the towns. So basically, Stretch is Hawaian.

Here are some fun facts about Stretch.

• He likes Virginia Tech. You know, the university that didn't make the NCAA tournement this year. Though he frequently wears a UK t-shirt...
• He was told on his first day at Henry Clay that he has beautiful eyes. I can't help but to agree. Stunning shade of deep blue.
• He once survived a terrible car crash.
• He loves the color purple, mostly because of his childhood love of Barney.
• He often eats his lunch in his second hour Latin class.
• He is halfway decent and the computer game "Plants vs. Zombies"
• He would really like to see the new movie "Clash of the Titans" just to see Liam Neeson yell the words "RELEASE THE KRACKEN!"
• He once slammed a revolving door. Oh wait, that was Chuck Norris.

Stretch is an overall good guy. As long as you treat him well, he'll give you some respect. We share a lot of laughs, and create some pretty enjoyable fun. If i were to rate him on a scale of 1 to 1000, I would give him a 909.

True Colors assignment

Let me preface this by saying I really didn't want to write about Austin. I let him know this on several occasions, and he was (predictably) unsympathetic. But since I'm at the end of the row in class and left with virtually no alternatives--aside from writing my blog about an empty chair--I suppose I will be writing about Austin.

The reason I didn't want to write about Austin is because no one wants to hear me talk about Austin. I talk about him too much as it is, and even now I'm trying to formulate a concise way to describe him without a) going on and on for days, or b) boring people and/or making them sick. So to (hopefully) put it briefly, Austin is the most amazing boy I have ever encountered, and color-wise, I think he's red and blue. Sometimes he's red, when he picks me up and carries me over his shoulder like I'm his backpack or something. Sometimes he's blue, when I decide to take up the entire couch for a nap and tell him to sit on the floor. And sometimes he's red and blue, sometimes he's purple, when he's making fun of the way I talk. (Tour is pronounced TOO-ER, not TOR.) I don't know why these situations make me associate him with those colors, but they do. I think he would put his stamp of approval on that, both figuratively and literally.

But the thing I admire most about this boy I sit next to in English is his tolerance level. It takes a lot to put up with me sometimes, and he has to deal with it every single day. And the weirdest part? He claims he doesn't mind. I think he might be a keeper.

My State Champ

I've known Nick for about 2 years now, but I've known of him for a little longer than that. When you're the swim god of Kentucky your name gets around. We were actually on the same swim team one summer between 7th and 8th grade but he knew not of me, but everyone knew him, or at least though they did. Nick Wrightson, the great swimmer, but what else did anyone know about him. Not much. Nick is somewhat introverted to foreign people, but when you break that shy outer shell he is a beautiful butterfly (not a monarch cause they're ugly). He loves a good joke, but is the first one to know when its gone too far which is probably best for the rest of us considering this happens quite often. I have 2 other classes with Nick other than English, both of which consist of the same shenanigans. I guess if I have to pick a color for him it would be silver. Don't ask why though. His future wife is Taylor Swift, but that's only if she doesn't find out that he wants to rape Megan Fox....

Anywho, Nick has one of the HOTTEST sisters in St. Louis and I'm only using our friendship to one day pursue my relationship with my future woman, Erin Wrightson. mmmmmmmhhhhhhmmmmmmm.

Wesley Johns

He's called Snipes by a lot of people. He's quiet and doesn't talk much, plus he rarely smiles. Unless of course Austin is there. In which case those things are reversed. Maybe he flips for other people too, but if it's just us, he acts very reserved. I'd give him a shade of grey. You know what? It's hard to talk about a person's personality if you've only known them for a bit. NEW TOPIC.

I haven't known Wesley long...pretty much only this school year really, we hadn't interacted much before it. In fact, I only interact with him in English and in Spanish, and not often in English. In Spanish he jokes around with Austin while I generally listen. I also ask them about Spanish-related material, and they do the same to me. It's fun being around them, and something I can put something in, though rarely and it usually isn't all that funny. Are you two reading this? Empuja.

Chelsea Walton is my favorite.

You're the kind of friend I know I could call for anything. Hell, if I needed help finding a place to hide a body, I know it would scare the shit outta you but you'd still be there for me. Don't freak out tho. I won't do that ever. But I can certainly talk to you for hours, break way too many rules with you, and laugh til I cry. As far as best friends go, not gunna lie, you rock. It's funny how perfectly you seem to fit with me even though we're basically opposites. I remember over the summer you came to my horse show in flip-flops and a cute shirt while I stood there in my shit-covered boots disgusting with my horse sneezing all over you and all we could do was laugh. Thats a true friend. Someone who is NOT a horse person willing to get horse snot on them for you. That's true friendship. I mean for real, my mom will barely do that for me. Haha. Anyways that is why I picture you as I do. Pink and yellow, with that green your trying to get rid of ;] You're fun, loving, crazy and still have your wits about you - even if it doesn't always seem like it :] love ya girl! Your definitely a keeper.

Wow. This really is a tough prompt. I'm not really sure where to begin with this, so I guess I'll just jump right in.
I suppose I'll talk about Rachel, since I know more about her than I do about Paul. In the past year, we've become pretty close, even though we're pretty different--she's confident with herself and who she is, whereas I'm fairly introverted. Its kind of hard to assign her a specific color, since she has such a complex personality, but if I had to choose one I suppose it would have to be teal. I chose this color because it's not one that people usually think of when they think of the color spectrum, but most people like it. Its eye catching and fun, beautiful in it's own way--it's not one to blend into a crowd. I think that pretty much sums up the essence of Rachel.

Yellow is Claudia.

Actually, orange is Claudia. And there's got to be some blue in there, too. (Except a non-masculine, more cloudy and pastel-y blue.) This is an annoying prompt.
Claudia is the really cool, speckled paint that friends and siblings fight over at the Mad Potter-- which may have closed, like, years ago. My point is she's speckled. With probably an orange base.
To start with the obvious: Claudia is Henry Clay's Little Fireball. She's tiny and adorable, and independent and comfortable with herself and the world around her. She's also hilarious! And super-smart, in matters of Chelsea's life as well as Language and Composition multiple choice questions. She has the prettiest collection of sweaters, and can pull off ponytails like nobody's business.
Looking deeper,
You know, there is no deeper. Not to say Claudia's not deep. She's just so yellow! She radiates personality and charisma and Fireballability. Her blue represents how easygoing she is, but also her intellect. Her orange speckles are the incredible humility that may or may not mask that intellect, as well as her uniqueness in this quality and others (which include: being so tiny, NEVER complaining, having something nice to say about-- seriously-- everyone).
This is an ANNOYING prompt.

I sit by two far too splendid people to choose one

Well wow, where do I start? I am lucky enough to sit by two amazing people in first hour english. And it's killing me to choose one so we will just tackle both, I say. For choosing colors, I can use my clairvoyance and ability read auras. This acute intuitive insight tells me that Faina is a bright, yellow, melon sort of color. Kam- a navy blue with indigo.

Faina is honestly a person that puts me into

awe. Last year, in math class, I commonly asked if she was Jesus. I thought she may actually be Jesus back on Earth. How else could we explain this girl who made impeccable grades, excelled at viola, did a million after school activities, had a lively social life, and still had time to help me with math in Ronni’s class. But of course, each time I would say that she would laugh and tell me to stop because she is humble in that way. I’ve gone to school with Faina for six years now, and from afar, I remember seeing her as one of those horrible people who are just good at EVERYTHING. Those people that you want to be annoyed by. But luckily, I got a chance to know Faina more personally. We had so many classes together in middle school (she, along with Greg, saved my life in Arts and Humanities in sixth grade. She also saved my life in gym….from a certain man-boy named Oscar…), we rode the same bus, sat next to one another in math all year, and the list goes on and on. She always pops up randomly in my life. But listen- let me tell you , this girl is AWESOME. I know, it’s a lame and vague word, but that is the word I choose. She is always leaving you surprised, and I love that she isn’t an easy person to figure out. She’s outgoing and hardworking, but never acts like anything stresses her out too much. She loves music and I will think I know what she’s into and then bam…I hear her humming Ludacris or some gangsta rap. She’s Russian. She is a terrific close friend to have- I am not her close friend or anything, but I can tell by the people that stick by her and depend on her that she definitely is. She is friends with everyone, because everyone wants a piece of this hilarious and amazing girl that brings light to everyone’s life. That is why she is yellow-melon. Not yellow- that’s too annoying. It’s that beautiful shade with a hint of orange and a hint of pink that lights up a room and makes you happy.

So now onto Kam. I will restrain myself from saying too much. We all know I love.

Kam. We all know that me and Kam are lovas. Do I need too say much more? Kam is the greatest friend- I can literally talk about ANYTHING with her. And that to

me is so so important to have in your life. ……Hey, my friends on my nerves, tell me what to do. Hey, did you watch 90210 last night? ( Or to the rest of the world: a cool, intellectual show that’s not 90210 I promise! Why would we watch that?!?!) Hey, why the heck are our boyfriends choosing to play Pokemon over hanging out with us?? ( Yeah…) Hey, do you like black cats or brown cats more? Hey, did you see Kinky.3 today? God, what a hipster! ……. She is so caring as a friend, she is creative but doesn’t give herself enough credit, she is amazingly gorgeous and has the greatest hair and eyes that I’m terribly jealous of, she is way too organized, she eats way too little…and all those things don’t add up her being dark blue-purple-indigo shade at all... But I’m her best friend, dammit, so I’m going with that.

ALSO: I have no clue why this layout is so very messed up. Although once I post this I bet it will look fine and this will be pointless note. But maybe not.

Person Who Sits Next To Me

My first impression of Kate Stromberg was "Woah, she and Lauren Keach seem like really good friends." This was because they sat next to each other in freshman biology, and could occasionally be seen having a conversation. And I'm pretty sure they must've been lab partners for something. I don't know. I'm not her keeper!

But in retrospect, sitting next to someone in one class is probably not enough to form a friendship. You would need at least... four classes together. And have to be hallway buddies traveling to two of them. Even if one hallway buddy has to chase the other down because the second hallway buddy is completely inconsiderate of the fact that the first hallway buddy will get very lost trying to find his way from Tallent's class to physics without the assistance of the aforementioned second hallway buddy.

Which is a roundabout way of saying that this year, Kate Stromberg and I have been involuntarily together a lot. We've played incredibly lengthy games of tic-tac-toe, a game she is so good at and I so dumb that she actually won four times. We've studied for English vocab quizzes, meaning she studied for English vocab quizzes while I frantically shoved my head over her shoulder in order to see maybe one or two of the words. We've discussed UK basketball, where I learned that John Cousins is not the name of a basketball player. We've probably even got inside jokes. I don't remember them.

And through asking about math homework and physics labs and visual literacy projects, and goofing on and off on free days or when Ms. Tallent is talking, Kate and I have become pretty normal friends. It just kind of happened that way; we never really went through a stage where we hung out outside of school, or where we talked about our lives and problems. (Well, Kate's lives and problems. Kate probably knows far more than she ever wished to about mine, from me. Whining.) I feel weirdly comfortable around Kate, and I hope she feels weirdly comfortable around me, because she's certainly weirdly honest - she's the only person who's consistently disliked all the essays I've ever written, which I find hilarious. Really. She's so mean about it; it's sadistically kind of awesome.

But anyway. Kate and I are sort of friends, which is because and why we sit next to each other in English and rant about Roni every time we leave her room and play weirdly long games of tic-tac-toe. And that's why she'd obviously be lavender. Which is a color? Right?

I've Known Liz Crutcher Since the Sixth Grade

And we even had every class together until freshman year. But Liz and I have never really been close friends. I mean, we're friends, but if something happened, I wouldn't run crying to her, or vice versa, I'm sure. But we talk. In fact, I'd say I've talked enough to Liz this year--maybe even just these past months after the seating changed--to be able to think of a specific "true" color. And knowing Liz, I'm almost one hundred percent positive that she will hate it. But I really think she's purple. Liz Crutcher is just a purple type of person.

Purple is a color no one thinks of right away. I mean, it's definitely saturated, it's noticeable, and it's beautiful. But no one ever steps out of the box enough to consider purple--they stick with the angry red or the calming blue. Since I've met her, Liz has been able to step out and stay out of this box that traps so many of us. She's incredibly artistic (often depicting everything from cats to a bearded man to child labor in a few doodles) and has ideas about everything. I think a lot of people don't realize how funny Liz is, too, because she's quiet--not to be confused with closed--towards those who don't know her. But like I said before: she's there. And once she provokes someone's mental state enough to jump out of the box; once she rattles enough of someone's own philosophies and exercises their privilege to question and contemplate everything they see; slowly but surely, they will begin to take notice of the ideas and saturation and crazy purple coolness that is Liz.

Assignment: True Colors by Chelsea Walton

High school juniors, and peers to one another for an average of about three (four, five) years now, I think it's safe enough to assume that we've come to know and understand ourselves and each other pretty well. We can all probably identify who a person is friends with, whether they're involved in any extra curriculars, what their strengths and weaknesses might be, their style of dress, maybe even where we see them in ten, fifteen years.
This familiarity with a person definitely extends to personality. But our perception of someone's personality can be harder to articulate than "I bet they're a doctor one day" or "She looks really cute with her hair down like that." Someone can be fun-loving, or intimidating, or goofy. But I've always thought personality to be a characteristic of so much more depth than a collection of word like that can express. And Rach has been trying to teach me how to interpret people as colors. In class we've even studied visual literacy and what colors can represent or evoke.
In short,-- how's this for the Backdoor Approach?-- I think it'd be really cute for everyone to write about the person they sit next to in English class. Our school, even our little program, is as different and as similar as the colors of the rainbow. And these colors can be used to objectify something as layered/multi-dimensional as personality.
And really, I'd just be interested to hear what people come up with for each other.

I'm not gonna assign who writes about whom ("you must discuss the person on your left or right") but I do expect a level of spontaneity rather than a the planned approach of "you write about me and I'll write about you."

"Deep" Playlist

The following are my favorite deep/emotional songs. Not necessarily sad but like you sing them with passion. They put you in a sort of nostalgic dreamlike state if you listen and relax.

1) Truly, Madly, Deeply - Savage Garden; I cant help but close my eyes and sing along every time this song comes on. It changes my mood instantly.
2) Waiting on the World to Change - John Mayer; The lyrics have legit real life meaning. Every time I hear this song I think to myself "Why am I here listening to this song? I should do something to help the world".
3) Lucky - Britney Spears; I know that Britney isn't who you would think would be singing a song passionately but this is a childhood favorite that never gets old.
4) Soulmate - Natasha Bedingfield; It makes you wonder. . .
5) Because of You - Reba McEntire; There is another version that Kelly Clarkson sings but I think Reba sings it with more meaning and fire.

The Perfect 4am playlist..

Now, most people aren't up at this hour, but the title is only appropriate considering I use these songs to gear up for horse shows--and that does mean 4 am car trips to wherever the show is. Heck, I've been on my horse at 4:30 before. Ridiculous? Maybe. Worth it? Definitely.

Anyway, in my sleep deprived daze (I've typically not gone to bed until midnight or so, having been cleaning tack), I use this playlist to remind myself exactly why I dragged myself out of bed that this ungodly hour.

1) Remember the Name- Fort Minor featuring Styles of Beyond

Yeah, it's the cliched "amping up" song, but it got that title for a reason. Its very...uplifting, I suppose? Everytime I listen to it, I want to jump stuff. Actually, I always want to jump stuff. Bu this makes me want it more.

2) Ready, Steady, Go- Oakenfold

This is a song that I discovered while watching videos of people riding. People on youtube match videos of horses jumping huge fences to the beat of songs, and I particularly liked this song. The lyrics aren't really deep or anything (actually, there aren't really many lyrics at all), but the beat is really catchy. I always picture myself riding to this song.

3) Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)- Big & Rich

This one doesn't really seem to fit with the others, but one of my friends and I have this thing with it. My old instructor made us count the rhythm of the canter in our heads, and Jane Brady and I would use the "badadum badadum" part of this song as our counting.

4)Stand Up (For the Champions)- Right Said Fred

I think the title pretty much speaks for itself here.

5) Pump It- Black Eyed Peas

This is another one I found on youtube. It fits really well with Vandy's energy (and canter stride) so if I ever get enough video together, I want to make a video to this song. Plus, its really hyper, and makes me wake up a little more.

I figured this playlist was appropriate considering I have the biggest show of my career tomorrow...
