Personally, I don't really understand all the uproar over Obama's speech to students. I mean seriously, most of the audience was probably high schoolers, most of whom will be voting in the next election. It's not like he's corrupting young minds, which is what some people seemed to think. After hearing all of this, I expected this speech to be composed of mostly "Go Me" hints from Obama, but it wasn't. His address, while containing some trite information (do your homework, study hard, so on and so forth) seemed heartfelt and more geared towards young people's education than the advancement of his political party. Obama made an effort to connect with students as well, by using common language and referencing things we can identify with, such as Facebook and Twitter, and parents that push hard for their children's success. All in all, I think that Obama did a very good job in his address to students.
