Top 5 Alter Ego Songs (that I could find in 30 minutes)

Many of us want to be someone we're not. To know certain people, drive a certain car, act a certain way, or live a certain life. Alter egos have been a trend among certain celebrities, often musicians to better their performance (a la Beyonce aka Sasha Fierce). It seems like the grass is always greener on the other side. So here are five songs to embody that alter ego longing:

5. Just My Imagination- The Temptations
It tells a lovely story of a man and his fantastic girlfriend who he is going to marry and have "two kids, maybe three" with. However, it turns out "she doesn't even know [him]". What a shame. For those longing to be loving someone who doesn't even know you, be it that guy down the street or Eva Mendes.

4. People Are Strange- The Doors
This song describes how our background can effect our perceptions ("People are strange when you're a stranger"). Maybe less alter ego and more alternate reality?

3. Paper Planes- M.I.A.
It had every nerdy teenager girl thinking she was a "bonafide hustla' ". You can't get much more of an alter ego than that.

2. Escape (The Pina Colada Song)- Rupert Holmes
A song about discovering other sides of yourself and others. Rupert Holmes is sick of his dreary everyday life and looks for someone whom he can drink pina coladas and get caught in the rain with. For those who are not into yoga.

1. Walk on the Wild Side- Lou Reed
This song inspired this playlist. For those who are tired of their ho hum lives and are thinking about driving across the country to take a walk on the wild side.
